Description: Crisp and succulent, these stocky bell peppers are ready to eat when the fruits turn a stunning, deep purple color with a green undertone. Four-lobed, thick-walled fruits grow on vigorous and very productive plants. Fruit measures 3-3 inches long x 2 -3 inches wide. It's an interesting novelty to add to your salads and cooking.

How to grow

1. Fill the containers of a plastic grow tray with a soil mixture of one part native soil from your garden, one part compost and one part sand. Make sure the elements of the mixture are evenly disbursed before filling the tray.

2. Place the seedlings gently under the soil and water until moist. Wrap the tray with cellophane to conserve the moisture and create a humid environment.

3. Place the seedlings beneath a sunny window. Peppers tend to germinate faster in temperatures of 75 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit so the sunnier, the better. Make sure the soil is always moist and keep the cellophane tightly wrapped until sprouts emerge, which can take anywhere from 1 to 6 weeks. Once sprouts are showing, remove the cellophane.

4. Transplant the seedlings to their permanent location one week after sprouting. However, do not plant the seedlings outside if the temperatures are below 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Allow the seedlings to grow indoors until the temperature adjusts.
